Ballymena, Cooke and Coleraine u16 girls travelled to Letterkenny for their cup tie against Letterkenny / Inishowen combined. Both teams were obviously fired up and ready to battle, hard carries and even harder tackles going in from first whistle.
BCC took an early advantage, forward pods carrying well, putting the home defence on the back foot. This created quick ball allowing the backs to quickly work the ball wide, Lucy Logan finishing a brilliant team effort (con. L. Murnaghan). L/I responded well, putting together phases of play with strong, direct ball carries and were rewarded with a converted try for their efforts.
BCC pressurised from the restart managing to turnover and go on the offensive. Forwards and backs again worked well together managing another team try brilliantly finished by Eva Draycott (con. L. Murnaghan). BCC tried to go straight on the offensive again but a turnover allowed L/I to run in a 60+metre try(unconverted) just before half-time. L/I went straight after the game in the second half. They put the away team under massive pressure and scored a lovely try(converted). BCC were shaken but rallied well, hitting tackle after tackle and ruck after ruck.
The sustained effort helped turn the tables in the away teams favour. Luighseach Murnaghan managed to break two tackles on the halfway line, running a long distance effort(converted LM). A few minutes later the ball was worked wide to Lucy Logan who managed to hand-off the opposition winger and outrun their fullback, scoring under the posts(con LM). A brilliant finish to a tough game. BCC now advance to semi finals.
