The U14 Ballymena ladies travelled to Coleraine on Friday for their first cup fixture of this season against a combined City of Derry/ Coleraine/ Limavady team . In the first half the opposition heavily dominated at the breakdown, with their forwards and backs combining to score some lovely tries. The half time score was 40-0. After the first half the Ballymena players fought back hard, with some tremendous tackling and counter rucking. This half was to be a more even contest with Ballymena fronting up defensively but unfortunately couldn’t retain the ball when they almost scored late in the game. Thank you to the girls for their commitment to both training and matches, with the lessons learned in difficult games, helping them develop as they continue on their rugby journey. Also the fact we can field a standalone Ballymena RFC team is a huge credit to the girls. Thanks also to the parents and family that acted as taxi drivers on a Friday evening.
