Ballymena u18 girls joined their friends from Rainey and Ballymoney to play the league leaders Enniskillen last Sunday at Magherafelt. Injuries and unavailability meant that the home team had to shuffle their squad and a few of our forward players got the chance to experience playing out in the backs.
With both sides starting the day undefeated something had to give, and at the end of a very physical contest it was the visitor’s who returned to County Fermanagh with their winning record intact.
The first half was an even affair with the home team controlling a lot of the ball and continually driving into the heart of the visitors defence.
The Enniskillen team changed tactics in the second half, allowing their exciting speedy backs to outflank our tired defence. Some excellent scores from both teams kept the large crowd entertained but in the end Enniskillen ran out deserved winners 40 points to 24.
