Senior’s Women away to Clogher Valley.
Ulster Conference League.
Score 48-10
Match Report –
Ballymena Womens XV hit the road on Sunday 25th September morning to travel down to Clogher Valley Womens XV as they hosted Ballymena in the first round of the Ulster Rugby Womens Conference League. The game started off with Clogher adding the first try to the scoreboard, but the Ballymena clan didn’t let their heads drop. Clougher continued to test Ballymena’s defence up to half time, with strong tackles from Ciara Fraser and Gina McAuley proving effective. Kathryn McKeown and Laura Moore our sister duo made their presence known on the pitch, hitting and winning rucks and making hard ball carries. Half time came and went with no Ballymena points on the scoreboard until Gina McAuley took
matters into her own hands and scored a try in the corner, assisted by Ballymena’s veteran rugby queen Kirsty Hill. Rachel Jamieson showed her sheer strength with effortless carries throughout the game, making yards up the pitch. One more try was added to the scoreboard with Lexie Irvine running it into the other corner, which couldn’t have been possible without a tactical pass from our skipper Ciara Fraser. Hollie Weir played a blinder as always, showcasing skilled footwork and impressive strength vending off defenders. Unfortunately despite Ballymena Women’s best efforts, Clogher proved successful with coming out on top with a final score of 48-10 which was made up of a number of great individual and team tries. The scoreboard was no measure for the effort and talent put on display by the Ballymena Ladies this evening. A huge thank you must go out to Clougher Valley Women’s Rugby team for their welcoming hospitality that was greatly appreciated by our Ballymena side today.
