Enniskillen 10 – 62 Ballymena
With a full 15 of a team expectations was high from Ballymena U16’s.
From the off it was an evenly contested match with possession drifting from side to side as both teams defended with great vigour.
After 3 or 4 phases of play the ball was passed to Prop Bradley Currie who forced his way through the Enniskillen Defence with a powerful run from deep to break the deadlock and with James Orr converting the try to bring the score to 7 – 0 to Ballymena. James Orr scored another try with a pick and go from within the Enniskillen 5 metre line and converting to make the score 14 – 0. Ballymena were on the up and continued to put the pressure on the Enniskillen side getting a penalty at the Enniskillen 22 which was successfully kicked by James Orr.
Enniskillen showed signs off coming back into the match with a try which was unconverted bringing the score to 17 – 5. This did not seem the phase Ballymena as the pressed from the restart with Max Mitchell scoring try and another try with a run from deep from Bradley Currie, only one of these tries were converted by James Orr.
From the Kick off at half time Ballymena turned up the pressure and within a minute Stuart Holden scored with a surging run to put Ballymena 34 – 5 up with again in form James Orr converting to make it 36 – 5. This was soon added to when Zac Carmichael broke the Enniskillen defence in the Ballymena half and fended off a few tackles from the Enniskillen 15 and 14 to score between the posts giving James Orr an easy conversion.
Not long after Zac’s try Ballymena forced the ball up the Enniskillen half with Aaron Armstrong driving over the try line to extend Ballymena’s lead even further.
Enniskillen kept pressing throughout the match and got a deserved try with an impressive run up the let to score in the corner bringing the score to 50 – 10.
With never ending pressure Ballymena extended the score near the end of the match with 2 tries from Cruz Mcnally bringing the final score to 62 – 10.
.This was an impressive game of rugby from the Ballymena U16’s just showing that when they have a full strength team they are hard to beat, Onwards and upwards to a Match on 23/10/21 against Virginia
