Welcome to Ballymena RFC @ Eaton Park – Est 1887

It’s been a good week for the club with wins for the 4th XI on Tuesday, 3rd XI on Saturday and finally for the 1st XI earlier today.

The 4s started the ball rolling with a thrilling win over CIYMS 5th XI on Tuesday. Chasing 109 to win, and needing 33 from the last 3 overs and then 14 from the last, Tony Brown stepped up and hit 6-4-2-6 to finish on 46 not out and seal a 1 wicket win.

Yesterday it was the turn of the 3rd XI against Laurelvale 3rd XI. Restricting the visitors to 105 after some excellent bowling, the 3s found it hard going in response with only the returning Andy Lytle (37) and Ethan Archer (23) making significant contributions early on. This time, it was Declan O’Boyle with 20 not out and Euan Watt with 5 not out that eased the team over the line with the penultimate ball of the match in a nailbiting finish.

Finally, today, the 1st XI secured a vital win over Holywood. Defending 112, with Alfie the major contributor with 55 not out. after a lively start from Holywood, 3 wickets each from Michael Glass, Alfie and Jack Gibson saw Holywood bowled out for 59 and the 1sts move up to 6th place in Section 1.

All eyes now focus on the 2nd XI as they prepare for the Intermediate Cup Final next Saturday.

The picture shows the penultimate Holywood wicket falling to the bowling of Jack Gibson.
