Ballymena WXV welcomed Virginia to their last home match of the season on 02/03.
Both teams started off strong with great physicality, defence and line breaks to set the tone for the full 80 mins.
Ballymena spent a lot of the first half defending and within their own half, but unfortunately after numerous penalties resulting in a yellow card, Virginia got over the try line. Half time 7-0 to Virginia.
With a full 15 at the start of the second half, Ballymena put the pressure on Virginia with solid tackles and quick line speed to prevent them from getting over for another try. Even better, once Ballymena got possession of the ball, hard carries from the forwards to suck in the Virginia defenders, left a lot of room for Ballymena’s dangerous back line to attack, with the speedy Kate McGilligan getting over for a try.
Unfortunately, the match finished 7-5 to Virginia but what a game and what a performance from our senior WXV, should be super proud of themselves.
The next match is the Suzanne Fleming Cup Final at Kingspan on Saturday 15th March. You can still get your tickets online via Ticketmaster. Come show your support and hopefully see our senior WXV bring home the cup!
Thanks to Virginia for an amazing game, to the referee and to all our supporters and sponsors for your continuous support.
