Welcome to Ballymena RFC @ Eaton Park – Est 1887

Ballymena WXV returned to action this weekend versus Randalstown at Waddell Park on Sunday 12/01. This was the third time the two sides faced each other this season and what a game it was, physical from the kick-off and lasted for the entire 80 minutes, this was a game not to be missed.

Some great rugby played by Ballymena, having a sound and solid defence to keep physical Randalstown at bay, but some powerful carries to punch holes in the Randalstown defence, which led to the opening try off a line-out for Ballymena, scored by Christy Hill. First half ended 5-0.

The second half ensured even more physical for the great crowd to enjoy. Again, Ballymena played superb as a team and with some fantastic line breaks, huge tackles and quick hands and pace, which lead to Mary-Rose McDonnell, one of the WXV’s youngest members, to get over the try line. 10-0.

Ballymena’s endless stamina allowed them to keep their intensity for the full match and apply continuous pressure on Randalstown, allowing 2 more tries to be scored, one for Sapphire Dudley and another for Mary-Rose McDonnell. Final score 20-0 to Ballymena.

Congratulations to our Ballymena WXV for a superb performance and bouncing back after last week’s defeat to Lisburn, a performance to be proud of. Thanks to Randalstown for an amazing, physical game of rugby and for their generous hospitality post-match.

Thank you to the referee, photographers, our sponsors and to the crowd for their support.

The next game is a cup semi-final versus Queen’s 2 WXV on 26/01 at home. Your support will be welcomed to cheer on our WXV.
