Welcome to Ballymena RFC @ Eaton Park – Est 1887

Ballymena WXV made the short journey to their neighbours Randalstown for the quarter final of the Suzanne Fleming cup on 15/12.

An exceptional game was on display as both teams came out as hungry as ever to ensure survival into the next round of the cup. Ballymena crashed over the line to open the scoring through a terrific hard line by their centre Christy Hill. Relentless tackles, hard lines and amazing hands from both sides, with the first half ending 5-0.

Randalstown came out with intensity putting the pressure on to score two tries and converting one while Ballymena were down to 14 players.

However, Ballymena worked super as a team to ensure the basics were done to perfection, and with the numbers back even, it was Jessica who came up with the second try followed by Mary Rose, on her debut, securing our third try.

The last 5 minutes was super tight with Ballymena camped in Randalstown’s 22 and having lost possession, but a turnover in the breakdown ensured the ball was back in the hands of Ballymena and within 2 minutes…the final whistle was blown.
Final score 14-17.. win for Ballymena Senior WXV!

Amazing game to watch today. Congratulations to our Senior WXV and commiserations to Randalstown, all the best for the second half of the league.

Ballymena are now through to the semi-final of the Suzanne Fleming Cup and the team looks forward to it, along with Phase 2 of the league.

Again, massive thanks to Randalstown for their hospitality, to all who came out to support our ladies and to the referee.
