The Ballymena Senior Women XV made their journey down to Co. Cavan to play a well-structured and powerful Virginia team on Sunday.
Ballymena didn’t see much of the ball and were defending for majority of the match, with some big tackles being made. However, Virginia finally found their way to the touch line through a powerful run and opened the scoring.
With some more relentless defending as a team, Ballymena put in serious effort to stop Virginia, but Virginia kept piling on the scoreboard with numerous tries and some conversions. First half 36-0 to Virginia.
In the second half was a completely different Ballymena side. Although Virginia scored early on, Ballymena were hungry to make the most of their chances with the ball and looked dangerous when they got the ball out wide. Final score 48-0.
Unfortunately, the score line wasn’t in favour for Ballymena but the determination, heart and never give up attitude is something to admire from the senior women.
The next game is on the 24th away to Shaw’s Bridge be Cooke 2’s. Good luck to the girls and hope anyone with any injuries takes care.
